The $150 million deal between Jay Z and Live Nation will end next year after a ten years agreement period. The deal, dubbed the 360 deal, has a small possibility of an extension, following Live Nation’s back out from recorded music. Live Nation, however, wishes to continue with the touring part of the deal. A possible outcome could lead to a situation where either Jay Z or Live Nation could buy the Roc Nation’s stake from the other. Another possibility could be Live Nation to buy the entire company.
Roc Nation’s top executive, Desiree Perez, recently had a meeting with Universal Music Group’s chair and CEO, Sir Lucian Grainge. This meeting has left people speculating on a possibility of the two entering into a deal. If this deal was to go through, Roc Nation could enjoy increased resources that would go a long way in signing up new artists and growing Tidal. Currently, Universal Music Group has a small stake at Roc Nation, adding more investment would mean owning a larger stake. An insider noted that it would be a great deal to strengthen the already existing business relationship. It is notable, however, that no official discussion has been made on the 360 deal with Live Nation.
